Breakfasts High in Protein Can Reduce Food Cravings
According to a small study published in the journal Obesity, a protein-rich meal first thing in the morning can increase feelings of satiety and prevent pecking.
Researchers at the University of Missouri used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to monitor brain signals associated with food motivation and reward-related behaviors of eating in obese girls ten adolescents who usually do not take breakfast. For three weeks, the teenagers did not take breakfast or were given a 500 calorie breakfast, milk, cereals and – a “normal” protein – or a protein-rich breakfast rich in protein Belgian waffles, syrup and yogurt.
They found that there were differences in brain activity three hours after eating breakfast, and these differences were greater when he had taken a breakfast rich in protein.
The assistant professor at the University Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology and the study’s author, Heather Leidy, commented: “Everyone knows that eating breakfast is important, but many people still do not as a priority. This research provides further evidence that breakfast is a valuable strategy to control appetite and regulate food intake. ”
The researchers said they focused on teens who skip breakfast usually for two reasons: First, because skipping breakfast is associated with unhealthy snacking, overeating, weight gain and obesity, and secondly because is estimated that about 60% of teenagers skip breakfast every day.
“Make a healthy breakfast with protein-rich foods can be a simple strategy to stay full longer and therefore be less likely to bite,” said Leidy. “People take pecking to satisfy hunger between meals, but these foods are almost always high in sugar and fat and reach a significant amount of calories to the diet. These findings suggest that a protein breakfast could be an effective strategy to improve appetite control and prevent young people overeats. ”
Great Find on Neurological Diseases
neurological diseases
Neurological diseases had a major discovery in recent times by British scientists. All of them were those who were responsible for discovering a protein that is intended to maintain the proper functioning of nerve fibers. They are responsible for transmitting messages in the brain. The researchers are part of the University Of Edinburgh, Scotland, and they who were responsible for asserting that the finding will be able to improve the overall understanding of neurological disorders, such as sclerosis, dementia, epilepsy and stroke.
In regard to the nerve fibers, we must say that is an extension of neurons and that they are formed by an axon and myelin coating of the same. In all diseases the fibers do not have the ability to emit electrical impulses that the brain sends through your body as a whole. This makes it cause an inability to control all body movements and other disabilities.
It should be clear that the brain function can be likened to a network of electrical circuits. This is because the impulses are sent through nerve fibers. This is done in the same way that usually develops in an electric current is sent through cables. The fibers can have a size of up to one meter in height, although the nerve segment measuring the width of a human hair. The same is the one that controls the transmission of impulses.
Basic nutrients an athlete’s diet

The diet of the athletes need more control over the quality and quantity of food to meet basic nutritional requirements. We have seen the monstrous diet of Michael Phelps, who consumes no less than 10,000 calories a day!
To build muscles, an athlete’s diet should contain the following nutrients:
Protein: essential nutrient that is found in eggs, red meat, fish, milk and derivatives. The ration will vary with the type of training you do, but rest assured this is the basic fuel because it helps the growth and strength of muscles.
Carbohydrates: this nutrient provides energy for training and supply of glycogen is the first thing that turns the body to support the effort, for this reason it is essential to carbohydrate consumption, like rice, pasta, breads, seed, sugary cereals. Ideally, they are integral to also take the fiber and does not accumulate as fat in the body.
