ICO Summer Campaign to Prevent Skin Cancer

Skin CancerThe Institut CatalĂ  d’Oncologia (ICO), one of the most important institutions for cancer research in Europe, has just launched its campaign to prevent skin cancer for the summer season.

Among the statistics that have been offered primarily has shown an alarming increase in the incidence of melanoma, which is 2.5%, among men, and 5.3% among women, each year.

For this part of the campaign will be given through materials: a leaflet about sun protection measures among children and young people will have 575,000 and 125,000 copies in Catalan in Castilian.

Additionally, the campaign will be disseminated through posters, 7,800 copies of “Protect Yourself from the sun.”

The importance of the information campaign is the value of basic preventive recommendations from exposure to solar referred to the leaflet, which has been developed in an educational way and has been directed mainly to children, youth and adolescents.

The campaign (leaflets and posters) is being spread in Primary Care Centers (CAP), specialized pediatric offices, pharmacies, schools, institutions of cancer control and sports centers.

More Than 2 000 Deaths By Lung Cancer
